It has been a massive week for the Kindle Fire, Amazon’s $199 7-inch tablet targeted at bookworms and streaming-media fans alike. Naturally, it does not really come out till the week after next, but meanwhile, Barnes & Noble’s Nook Tablet has made an appearance on the horizon as a major rival. But there are a large amount of reasons that explain why Amazon Manager Jeff Bezos is perhaps smiling in expectation at this time. There are solid pre-release signals the Fire could trap tons of customers away from Apple’s much stronger but also much dearer iPad two. A survey of more than one thousand folk conducted by electronics site Retrevo proved that of clients inquisitive about purchasing a pill for the vacations, 44 p.c were thinking about a Fire rather than an iPad two. Amazon’s own sales information paints a rosy picture, too : back in October, just as the Fire was provided for advance order, MSNBC said that Amazon was selling more than fifty thousand of the capsules every day more than either the iPad or the iPad two sold over the same pre-sale period. And as the Fire’s Nov fifteen date of release approaches, Amazon has reputedly upped the amount of units to be produced from 4,000,000 to 5,000,000, according to Digitimes.
