The Ohio State gave itself two years probation and vacating the wins from the 2010 season, due to the violation of rules by the former coach Jim Tressel and a few football players. Fans will be deprived of their sleeps as to if NCAA will accept this punishment.
The possibility of NCAA striping of all scholarships and imposing a bowl ban terrifies fans. It seems as if, if the team misses one Bowl it’s the end of the world.
This is completely out of the world. The future of Ohio State program rests in the hands of the new coach Luke Fickell, his assistants and the current players and not the Scholarships or one missed Outback Bowl.
If the team piles up wins without Tressel and quarterback Terrelle Pryor, the program will almost be as good as new. Recruits want to know if the team can still perform well like Tressel’s team did.
Fans and recruiters are not interested if the 2010 wins are vacated or not. Fans are interested in what lies ahead of them, whether the current team can win the Championship, which is something the last team couldn’t do. Several queries like if Fickell keep his job and if he doesn’t who is the right one to replace him and if the wins over Michigan and the Big Ten Championships keep flowing, are the ones the fans are interested in.
School official do not care about 2010 and they want to keep selling the Ohio state T-shirts and hats. They very well know that the way to that is winning. The actions of Ohio state officials in regard to Tresses was all about protecting the business and saving it.
Definitely the Buckeyes are on a roll and one missed out Bowl wont hit them hard. If they keep winning the way they are this season wont matter much to the players and the recruiters. Players are all about the future and if they don’t plan on staying on the team till 2012 then the rest is just past and unnecessary.
