A visit to the USA would mean a visit to all their national parks to enjoy their beauty but this year around these parks were not in the best of their form with very few visitors. In fact these parks also proved a good weekend get away but not so this time. The authorities blame it either on the bad weather or just the higher fuel prices keeping the people in doors or they are discovering other options to unwind.

Well known parks in Yosemite and Yellowstone saw lesser people visiting them around the peak period of January to May. Same was the case with the Great Smoky Mountains and Mount Rainier.

By the end of May Yosemite Park saw a decline of 7% of their usual crowd while the Great Smoky Mountain saw a decline of more than 8%. This worried the authorities terribly as business is mainly through the visitors. If this was shocking Yellowstone saw a decline of 14% and The Rainier Mountains saw a record 26% decline.

These authorities reasoned the decline in visitors due to the economic fallout with lesser number of tourists opting to holiday while the Great Smoky Mountains claim the decline was mainly due to the closure of a main highway temporarily.

All said and done these parks were a huge hit among the visitors in the past and authorities say it will be so in the future too and they just call this a rough phase as the weather too was not too pleasant to attract the tourists and locals to these locales.
