Windows 7 was launched by Microsoft in October 2009 and it has proved to be the best selling operating system of Microsoft till date, mainly after the disappointing performance of Vista. Kevin Turner, the chief operating officer of Microsoft, said that the business customers have started refreshing their desktop. A large number of people are flocking towards the new operating system of Microsoft, which strongly indicates its high demand in the market. While the users of computers do not give much thought to the operating system, which serves as the brain of their machine, the program is at the heart of the company’s global software empire. Operating systems developed by Microsoft run over 90% of the computers around the world.

The bad performance of Vista gave an opportunity to Apple to woo users to its Mac operating system. The company also reported its quarterly earnings earlier this week, quoting factors that lead to a large number of people taking Mac machines for the first time. Microsoft learned a lesson from its Vista and worked hard to develop Windows 7 with software developers, users and computer makers.

Microsoft is the latest technological company, which reports its earnings results. Apple and Yahoo also announced their higher profits in the earlier part of the week, while Google reported its figures during the last week.
